Tapatio Top Dragster Makes it to the Second Round at Phoenix Lucas Series Regional Event

Steve Hamilton and the Tapatio Top Dragster had a solid outing at the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event. While the car didn't make it to the final round, the results were a steady improvement over the week before at the Arizona Nationals. In round one, Steve grabbed his first round win of the year over over J. Sadler. In round two, the Tapatio Team faced Jeff Taylor. Taylor got a slight lead off the starting line and was able to hold on at the sripe with a 6.88 to Steve's 7.04.

Unfortunately, the Steve's Super Comp Dragster didn't fair as well and lost in the first round of eliminations. Next, the Tapatio team moves on to Tucson for the Southwest Showdown, March 8-11.

Steve Hamilton Breaks into the Six Second Zone in the Tapatio Top Dragster at Arizona Nationals

Phoenix - Steve Hamilton in the Tapatio - Lucas Oil Top Dragster established a good baseline for the start of the season at the Arizona NHRA Nationals. Steve made his quickest pass to date as he posted a 6.95 in qualifying. “That was our first time in the six second zone with this car” Steve said. While the run was only good for the first alternate in eliminations, the Tapatio team worked out a bug in their nitrous system. “We realized the pedal didn’t reach the switch to activate the nitrous but now that’s fixed so I’m sure the car will fly next weekend” steve surmised.

Steve also raced his red Super Comp Dragster at the national event but went out early in eliminations in spite of cutting a good light. He went quicker than the 8.90 index and lost. Steve will get another shot this weekend when the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series returns to Phoenix one week after the just concluded national event.
